Born and raised in rural Iowa, I found my way beyond the fields by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. My journey continued in Europe, where I played professional baseball and met my wife. Today, we live with our Maltese on a remote, boat-access-only bridgeless barrier island off Florida’s Gulf Coast. Together, we run a pizzeria and a sightseeing boat charter business, and I also serve as an ordained minister. As a songwriter, my country music is rooted in raw emotion—drawing from past and present relationships, as well as the hardships of surviving three Category 4 hurricanes in the last two years.
