Composer, producer and trumpet player Christopher Lawrence began his musical studies at the age of 5 in his hometown of Muskegon, MI. Upon graduating with a degree in jazz trumpet from Western Michigan University, Chris spent over ten years as a freelance trumpet player and arranger in the Midwest, working with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Aaron Neville, Linda Rondstadt, the Temptations, and many of the top jazz artists in the Midwest region. In 2011, Chris was selected as one of five finalists in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition. The Caruso is regarded as the world's most prestigious competition for jazz trumpeters under the age of 30.
In 2015, Mr. Lawrence relocated to Los Angeles, where he has worked as an in demand trumpet player, composer and arranger in a wide array of styles from Jazz, Big Band, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Rock, Pop, Classical, to Top 40, Ska, and Ambient. Since arriving in Los Angeles, Chris has worked and recorded with artists such as Melody Gardot, Mondo Cozmo, Josh Nelson's Discovery Project, The Gerald Wilson Orchestra, The Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra, Ty Taylor and Vintage Trouble, Nick Heyward and Haircut 100 amongst countless other artists throughout Southern California.
Currently, Mr. Lawrence is serving clients in search of music for Synch Licensing, Television, Film, Multi-Media, Podcasts, as well as artists looking to add high quality horn arrangements to their songs and tracks.
Christopher strives to meet the musical needs of top level artists, vocalists, directors, producers, corporations, marketing agencies, and independent voice over actors. He is able to deliver high quality, professionally produced tracks in a timely fashion that will help bring your project to life!
Mr. Lawrence lives in Los Angeles with his wife Cheryl, and their three German Shepherds-Miles, Duke and Ella.
