Several years ago I wrote "Please Don't Forget Me, Tennessee," a country song. Many people have suggested it become the state song, including former Governor Bill Haslam, former Senator Bill Frist, former Senator Lamar Alexander, retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, and the entire staff and administration at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. The University of the South premiered my song three years ago to a sold out auditorium resulting in a standing ovation of approximately three minutes chanting "State Song! State Song!" I am a professional pianist of over 50 years.
Bob Milne is primarily a solo pianist, declared a "National Treasure" in 2004 by the Library of Congress. Although he specializes in ragtime and boogie-woogie, he can play any style. His active performing career spans close to 60 years, the last 30 of which he toured the country and world often playing 250 performances per year. He has played for everything from presidents and congressmen to audiences of 5000 or small church basement gatherings. Mr. Milne was appointed a "Musical Ambassador" for the United States for roughly six years, and made numerous trips overseas in that capacity. Many published reports referred to him as "the best ragtime piano player in the world." Audience reviews often included phrases like "unbelievable," or, "he made it sound like four pianos."
Bob has written his own compositions at will. It comes easy to him. He wrote an entire opera - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with music, lyrics, and orchestrations - in his head while driving through Montana on a concert tour. He spent an hour or so every morning jotting it down into his computer in coffee shops across the country.
Bob is easily find-able on YouTube.
