Steve Lovisa is an independent songwriter and musician with over 30 years of experience playing in bands and writing and recording original music.
On one front, Steve spent the 1990s and 2000s dabbling in alt-rock and indie bands in the Chicago area, and always intends to keep the rock dream alive. In 2020, he started a solo project called The Manic Deep, where he draws from a wide range of influences spanning the last three decades, such as True Widow, DIIV, The Horrors, Autolux, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Dandy Warhols, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, and Depeche Mode.
On another front, Steve has been accumulating a collection of more conventional song ideas throughout the years, which he is now recording and refining for TV and film. These typically start with a melancholy theme, and may be expressed as an energetic and driving soundtrack or a wistful and reflective soundscape. There’s a dreamlike quality to all of his original works, each designed to evoke a specific emotion.
Steve’s lifelong commitment to his craft and his dedication to artistic expression shine through his songwriting and his recordings, leaving a lasting impact on listeners. As a new TAXI member in 2023, he’s looking forward to pairing and adapting his musical compositions to compelling visual media to make both more compelling to the audience.
