Songwriters Hall of Fame award winning artist, Scooter Scudieri has been writing, recording, and performing original music AS AN INDEPENDENT MUSICIAN for more than 30 years. And yet, this might be the first time you've ever heard of him. His music is a meditation on the human condition and the complicated world in which we live. At times fierce and sometimes playful, Scudieri's distinct acoustic guitar style drives home contemplative lyrics and "remain in your brain" melodies. His unique voice stands out against many of his bare bones instrumentation, but through the power of computer programs like Logic, Scudieri has been able to realize his music's true potential (Heavy, Blessed are the Joy Makers) branch out for film and tv (Towards Evening) and delve into "sci fi" (Full Metal Bonkers). After some well spent time off the road raising his daughter with international artist/wife Kelly Scudieri - he has come back to his music with a passion. Here's a brief bio of the years prior...
His career highlights include opening for Joan Jett in 1989, arguing for artist rights on Capitol Hill during MGM vs Grokster, and opening for Jewel on her “This Way” tour throughout 2002-2003. The Songwriters Hall of Fame awarded him “Best of the New Writers” in 2002 for his song "The Usual" and he won the “Vox Populi” honor from The IMA in 2008 for Jesus and Muhammad (The Kissing Song). Scooter transformed his concept album "Rattle to Rifle" into a limited engagement multimedia, digital projection and performance piece including giant puppets with Scudieri performing the entire show on stilts. Scooter's controversial "Mother of God" music video (shot guerrilla style across Los Angeles with Famed EZTV producer Michael Masucci) was archived at the Pompidou Museum in France for EZTV's 40th anniversary in 2019.
His pioneering lecture series “Capture Your Spirit, Keep Your Soul” helped pave the way for DIY artists interested in online marketing prior to the invention of iTunes. Scudieri raised $50,000.00 from his fan base to record with top musicians in NYC for his first solo album in 2000. From 2000-2004, Scooter became a sort of poster boy for the internet garnering features in Billboard Magazine, The Boston Herald, and Music Connection. Tara Pepper of Newsweek said of Scooter: “You are on the forefront of an issue that’s here to stay.”
Scooter has performed on Mountain Stage, VH1, and has opened for more than 25 international acts including Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, Nils Lofgren, Dream Theater, Blind Melon, Widespread Panic, NRBQ, Life Sex and Death, and The Samples. His upcoming album, THE MUSICAL BRUISES OF A RECOVERING DREAMER releases in 2025.
