Steve Smith
La Verne, California
An unlikely encounter, or not. Steve and Mike met when Steve heard Mike playing his old Kay archtop acoustic down at the barn, amazed by his knack for storytelling, with his great biographical style and his catchy country melodies and vocals. Steves wife, Nancy, (who keeps her horse at the same barn) knew that these two had to meet, knowing that they would hit it off, and they did. Steve has been writing, playing and recording his own material for years, having a good sense of chorus and melody and having a home recording studio. Soon they were jamming at the barn on a regular basis, with many kind words and compliments from the locals, and thus the duo Dodge-N-Bullets was born. Nancy points out that she is the "N" in the bands name, having coaxed these two into what they both agree has become one of the most creative and enjoyable collaborations ever, and telling the boys they have something special (and she is no pushover) Now they can be seen galloping into the hills (o.k. trotting) on their powerful steeds, telling stories through song, thoroughly enjoying the ride!
