Jon is an Australian musician and composer. He studied at the NSW Conservatorium of Music (including piano tuning) and then at Macquarie University, Sydney in English Lit and Ancient History, graduating with the Australian equivalent of summa cum laude and going on to complete an Honours degree in Near Eastern History at the time of Christ. He was Head Chorister at St Andrew's Cathedral Choir and has sung in a range of Australian choirs. Jon trained as a bel canto opera tenor and also plays trumpet, saxophone, flute, piano, organ and guitar and occasionally conducts. Jon has been a Head Teacher of both English and History Departments in numerous independent schools and at one point he was roped into playing oboe on 'Beauty and the Beast' for a school musical so enjoys the opportunity to stretch into unfamiliar areas.
Jon has been writing gospel, pop and Christmas carols for several decades and his music is used around the world and frequently features in the finals of international competitions. Recently his carol 'Christmas is Here Again' was recorded by Mirusia who sings with Andre Rieu.
Jon is currently writing a book on Frances Havergal, the 19th Century singer and song writer and perhaps the first notable female evangelist in history who spoke regularly to large audiences.
