Born in Chicago and steeped in American Roots Music; the Blues, Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Country and Gospel.
Great music is soulful, it exudes the Truth and tells a story. It has myriad origins and comes in all colors..... each song a new variation on a universal, and yet deeply personal, theme.
My early years were spent in Blues / rock'n'roll bands, playing in clubs. Through that time, I hung out with and was mentored by some of the 'creators' of the genre; Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Johnny Shines and many more! In the early 2000's, I was blessed to work with, become a friend and brother of, King Solomon Burke.
Some of the sessions represented here were the result of Solomon's belief in my work. The tracks were cooked up with a blend of ingredients to create something new, but somehow familiar, at the same time.
My wife Brooks is a very talented pianist and writer. A few of the tracks here are collaborations; either on music end or production side of things.
Other tracks are gleaned from decades old LP releases, more recent CD projects and unreleased demos. I am not a great recording engineer but I do what I can.
No musical clones, digital beats or sound cues here, just stories to tell and share....
