Bill McKay has been performing music since the age of 6. From 1995-2000 he was the lead singer, organ and keyboard player, and co-writer with the Derek Trucks Band, contributing to 4 studio albums. From 2000-2011 he performed and recorded with Leftover Salmon, contributing to a Live album and 2 studio releases. 2014-2020 with Coral Creek, contributing to 2 studio albums . Bill has been performing, recording, and teaching around the world for over 30 years. Based in Colorado, and a grateful member of the Colorado music scene, Bill McKay performs with over a dozen bands and musical projects, does regular studio work, mentors and teaches often, and raises his two children. Projects include Bill McKay Band, McKay Brothers, True Blue Band, The Other Brothers, Steely Dead, Brothers Keeper, Chill Colorado, and solo piano. Bill has released a full band studio album of all original material in 2010, and a solo piano album in 2015. He writes in a variety of styles: Blues, Funk, Jazz, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Mood. Original material appears on albums by Derek Trucks Band, Leftover Salmon, Coral Creek, Johnny and the Mongrels, and Bill McKay.
