Author/poet/lyricist...in a nutshell - that's me David McMullen.
Born in Hobart Tasmania (huh - I hear you think! Tasmania is an island off the south coast of Australia). Now residing in Melbourne Australia.

I probably didn't come to song writing in the conventional manner (if there is such a thing). It came about as a consequence of writing my fictional teen adventure trilogy 'The Fearless Five'. Set in the mid 1960's through the mid 1970's the story follows the teenage years of five teens - through the fictional blues/rock band that two of the characters put together which called for me to write the lyrics for the songs they "wrote/performed" in the story line. Along the way I recorded all the songs I wrote for their fictional band 'Constellation J' and their album 'Universe'.
The songs caught the ear of a number of music publishers and to date I've signed most of the songs from that fictional album, along with a number of others I have written since, to music publishers in both the USA and England on both exclusive and non- exclusive contracts. I have done the same thing with the songs from my latest novel 'The Hang-Up', due for release in 2020, which have also pricked a few ears. Experience is a good teacher and I feel I'm getting better at this song creation caper the more I do it.
