Riley Cobb

Hello, I’m Riley! I’m a 34-year-old musician originally from Calgary, Alberta, and currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. My journey with music began at age 12 when my best friend and I—along with our older brothers—decided to form our first band. This sparked a lifelong passion for creating and performing music.

As the years went on, our older brothers ventured into the bar and club scene while we continued writing and performing, playing underage shows until we hit our 20s. During that time, I joined our brothers metal band, Throne of Vengeance, while we also formed a rock band called The Outer. I even played in an Alice in Chains tribute band, making that period one of the busiest and most exciting times of my musical journey.

At 28, I made the decision to move to Vancouver, seeking new opportunities and a fresh start after many of those projects came to an end. Shortly after arriving in 2018, I teamed up with a friend I had met while touring with Throne of Vengeance, and together we formed Freeborn Soul. Just as we were gaining momentum, the COVID-19 pandemic slowed our progress, but we used that time to hone our songwriting and refine our performances. Despite our efforts, the project came to an end in the summer of 2024 as life took different directions for many of us.

Since then, I’ve been focusing on forging my own path in music, embracing my individual voice, and sharing the music I’m most passionate about. These days, I’m diving into the world of Sync and Cinematic Composing, where I’ve discovered a new depth to my creativity. For me, it’s about crafting music that not only tells a story but resonates deeply with the listener. This new chapter feels like the perfect evolution of everything I’ve learned and experienced so far, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.
