Karen Mitchell

A full-time songwriter and composer for film and television, Karen R. Mitchell currently co-writes with various pro and emerging artists and writers. She is honored to be part of the Evergreen Song Factory writing team (James Kocian, Matt Glickstein and Karen R Mitchell).

As of 2024, song’s Karen has written and/or co-written have been signed to Marmoset Music, In Style Music, Kazen Music, Crucial Music Group, Madden Flow Entertainment, Washington Street Publishing, Noma Music, Figure & Groove, My 3 Kids Music, Song Rocket Music. She has also had the privilege of being part of writing teams whose songs have been recognized by Hawaii Songwriting Festival (“Searching For Familiar” - 3rd place in 2022), UK Songwriting Contest ("Be Brave, Be Bold" - 2023 Winner (Olympic Category)), and Josie Award Winner ("Bully Inside" (Social Impact Song of the Year)). Karen is beginning to see sync placements with songs she has co-written and is working on instrumentals for sync and hopes to have a lot more good news in the near future!

In the past Karen did concerts and shows and had numerous original music releases (indie and small label). She continues this but on a smaller scale as her focus is now songwriting. She has volunteered as a worship team member in various churches and currently serves on the Board of GINA for Missing Persons. She previously served on the Board of LAWIM (Los Angeles Women in Music).

Karen received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Azusa Pacific University in Organizational Leadership. Prior to that she did coursework in Music Theory and Vocal Performance at Point Loma University. She continues her music education studying with pro writer/song coach, James Kocian and through organizations like Taxi & Sync or Swim.

Karen is happily married to her husband who is an avid supporter and great encourager! She is a cancer survivor and that has helped her cultivate an immense gratitude for the gift that is each new day. She continues to grow and learn and become more confident in her songwriting as she steps into her place in the music industry with people who are authentic and kind.
