How Music Is Pitched, Chosen, and Licensed
If you've ever thought, "If only that Music Supervisor or Licensing Agent could hear my music, I'm sure they'd love it and put it in a TV show," we're going to give you the how to and the how not to do it in this final part of the interview we did with Music Supervisor Frank Palazzolo and Music Licensing Agent Shannon Quisenberry.
Peter Sivo, July 24, 1923 - January 14, 2019
Peter Sivo's legacy is his music that has been heard by millions, and will likely be heard by millions more people in the future. Sadly, we recently lost our most senior TAXI member, but we think he's looking down from above and loving that we're giving him one last tip of the hat that he and his music so richly deserve. Pete was still getting big placements at the age of 95 years old. Read this heartwarming tribute and you'll understand why!
Passenger Profile Terrell Burt, Part One
TAXI member Terrell Burt is humble, grateful, hard-working, and level-headed. While he's relatively new to the Music Licensing side of the business, he's becoming successful a little faster than most. Would you like to know why? Read this interview to find out!
A Composer's Guide to Library Music by Dan Graham
If you want to understand every aspect of the Music Library business, Michael strongly recommends this book by successful composer and publisher Dan Graham. Michael says it's a "Must Read," and TAXI doesn't make a penny when you buy your copy! "Dan Graham is modest by nature, but when you see his credits and hear the music in his catalogs, you'll want to know what he knows. This book is a treasure trove!" Read the first chapter for free here!
AirHush's ISAT System
Michael stopped by last month's NAMM convention, and he was really impressed with this innovative sound-isolation product by AirHush. It's lightweight, transparent, modular, and infinitely re-configurable. If you need to record a really loud guitar amp without upsetting your neighbors, this is for you!
Why Are These Musicians So Successful?
Matt VanderBoegh and Chuck Henry are among our most successful TAXI members, and two of the nicest people you could ever meet! They’re great examples of how making the right music, having the right attitude, and treating the process of creating music as a profession can pay off to the tune of a Six-Figure income. Join us for an insider’s look into the "secret” that has made each of these guys successful. If you think it’s something that’s beyond your reach, watch this episode and you’ll be convinced otherwise!
Song Review "Speed Dating" With Robin Frederick
obin Frederick joined us for another Song Review Session, and like the last time we did it, this too was done like Speed Dating. Truth be told, we've had a number of people tell us that we spend too much time on each song during past episodes. So, during this episode of TAXI TV, we'll play about half of each song, and Robin will give quick, shoot-from-the-hip bullet points rather than her normal deep dive analysis! Spoiler alert: She still gives just as much information, but she gives it more quickly ;-)
